Well Philhewkin, you're certainly entitled to your opinion, as pointed out in your 6 posts.
Your argument on allowing trophy hunting is that bears eat people, and bears aren't cuddly- well how dare anything eat people!!! Get real, how old are you? I've encountered many bears and they've never bothered me. Are you suggesting we eliminate anything that poses a threat to us? What a great place this would be then, living in a world devoid of apex predators, other than ourselves. How about trying to control our own population and protect and restore whats left of the natural world? Why not just for the sake of other living things that deserve our respect? Who says we were put here to "manage" everything? What a fine job we're doing. You must envision a wonderful world of steel and concrete for future generations! I'll take the word of highly regarded scientists anyday over that of a right wing, conspiracy spewing moron. Have some compassion and respect for the natural world, before it disappears.

MOM nature is wise, beyond human comprehension. A cross breed bear was harvested, in the NWT i beleive, or Alaska, half polar bear, half grizzly. Nobody in the science community knew such could occur! turns out, MOM knows best. and when MOM thinks we been bad, she'll smack us upside, no doubt. Should some practices be halted? Certainly. Maybe when we figure out how to curb political corruption and graft, we wi also deduce how to live more harmoniously with nature. I tend to suspect that CITY living is about as UNNATURAL an existence, causing the MOST concentrated HARM. HOW MANY OF US LIVE IN CITIES??? TALK is cheap. HOW many would CHANGE this? hah!

HUMAN BEINGS are as naturally occurring species as any other species. We have a place in the Natural order. As "selluot Suzuki's" TV series is named, "the nature of things" Wildlife and their habitat has been successfullly managed, there are heathy populations of ungulates and predators, INCLUDING BEARS. the scientists say polar bears are at risk. The INNUIT say, there have never been as many bears as there is now. Who has the agenda? The SAME scientists want you to pay a carbon tax, for "greenhouse gas" because they count on your blind trust, naivety, and ignorance. Nice vague terminology. Carbon is the building blocks of life. periods in history show much higher levels, and flora and fauna thrived in these periods.

jee whizz, Linda, it sounds like your perfect world is devoid of human beings alltogether. Lets see. Who might benefit MOST ($$$) from convincing people that they should live in guilt for the blight they pose to the earth and the environment? The same people who manipulate the message, who are the bread and butter of the media industry. "Global Warming" they said. (proven FRAUD) now, Climate change. (the sky is falling, somehow, we cant explain why or when, but, golly wow, the taxpayer is certainly going to buck up for it!)
Enviro levy's/fees. carbon tax. carbon offsets. etc. Yet the same crooks who "POSE" these scams, rubber stamp any/all foreign big business,industries who not only have no accountability to the environment or anyone who is harmed in the process, these same politicians endorsed legal protection so that these wanton violators can SUE any government that interferes with their ability to turn a profit. FACT IS, as far as bears and wildlife management goes, there are HEALTHY populations of ungulates and predators in British Columbia.

As we all know, man is the most destructive animal on earth. Our oceans are dying, our land is polluted. We are now polluting space, with debris. Now we must destroy our wild life, and we are doing a wonderful job at it. Before the white people came to Canada, the wild life regulated their population. Polar bears, are dying out because, ice bergs are dissapearing , and that is the only way polar bears can hunt seals. Grizzlies and black bears, are being forced out of their habitat and their confrontations with man, they will soon be gone. I used to live in a National Park, and mans stupidity about bears, astonished me. apearing

"SPIRIT BEARS"…..the "white phase of the black bear, adopted as "mascot" for the B.C.Olympics. wow. preference by COLOR. by this definition, I must be a "SPIRIT MAN" !!! not the FIRST time human's have shown color-oriented preferential treatment. Was the BLACK BEAR too BLACK!!! bear RACISTS. and, the GRIZZLY, aka, Brown bear, welll, he as a species wasnt WHITE enough for you, EITHER. for shame. bigotry rears its ugly head, once more. MOST IMPORTANTLY, current responsible hunting practices reduse the number of human/bear conflict. Day active bears regardless of species tend to be the most likely harvested, MOST of these are the "teenager" bears, too old for mom, too young to be able to hold down a prime feeding area that generally will sustain larger, more dominant animals. Timothy Treadwell considered himself to be a very good freind of bears, GRIZZLIES in particular. Well, they DID tolerate him incredibly for 13 years, in their midst, one can only surmise that the plentiful NATURAL abundance of food in the area kept Timothy on the OUTSIDE of bears, ultimately, the beloved grizz found their number one fan to be a very tasty snack. Eaten alive, by your BEST freind. how sweet.

HEY. WE EAT BEARS, MORON. and, guess what, bears are NOT cuddly, THEY EAT US, if they get a chance. RESPONSIBLE HUNTING REDUCES the number of HUMAN/BEAR CONFLICT. Conntrary to "SELLOUT SUZUKI's" plea for restraint,. CLOSING hunt opportunities-hurts the little guy most, sustenance hunters, Farmers, who face property, stock, and crop damage, SHUTTERBUGS do NOT represent the ACTUAL people who "buck up" and fund conservation, in fact, every bear that becomes habituated with humans is a bear that will inevitablt be destroyed, likely at a COST, by fish & wildlife.
THERE IS NO SHORTAGE OF BEARS IN BRITISH COLUMBIA, grizz, or BLACK. ONTARIO has stopped SPRING BEAR HUNT, their example PROVES that hunting management IS the COMMON SENSE WAY TO GO. THE central Canada shutterbugs do not "PAY" to take pictures, the suggestion is irresponsible and rediculous. TO remove HUMANS from the TOP of the food chain is UN natural, and UPSETS a long established pattern. common sense, people. not nearly as common as one would hope.
