Ricky Ghuman will likely be the Kwantlen Student Association’s next women’s representative.

Ghuman beat out incumbent Arzo Ansary and fellow newcomer Kimberley McMartin in this week’s by-election, according to preliminary results released Thursday afternoon by chief returning officer Corey Van’t Haaff.

Ansary’s loss means she will have to vacate her position on the KSA’s executive committee as director of student services and chairperson.

Leah Godin and Eric Wirsching also won seats on the KSA council. Godin will be the new Langley campus rep and Wirsching will be a science and horticulture faculty rep.

Van’t Haaff cautions that the results are still subject to change until any outstanding issues are resolved and that she anticipates releasing the final election results on Monday Oct. 28.
