KSA releases preliminary election results

Outcome of several races still unknown.

The preliminary results are in for the Kwantlen Student Association’s general elections.

Incumbent business representative Morgan McKee who was running for re-election lost her seat.  Incumbent Gaurav Kumar will be joined by Simran Goraya, Manpreet Bassi and Chanel Kwong as the four business representatives.

Rebecca Fribance, Simon Massey, Alex McGowan and Fatima Zaidi won as the four arts representatives, beating out Rhejis Wicks, Nakul Gulati and Allison Makela.

Gurinderjit Sidhu beat Shewit Kidane for the students of colour representative seat, while Kimberley McMartin trumped Daniel McCully for the students with disabilities representative.

The races for academic and career advancement, science and horticulture, aboriginal students, international students, and queer students representatives were all running unopposed and all candidates received more yes votes than no votes; Amarjeet Singh Dhaliwal, Micheal Robinson, Eric Wirsching, Justin Bige, Charandeep Singh Ghuman and Mason Schmidt were all elected.

No preliminary results were made available for the women’s, mature students, Langley campus, or Cloverdale campus representatives.

In her written release, the KSA’s chief returning officer Corey Van’t Haaff cautioned that all results are preliminary and the results  may change.
