Is McDonald's barbeque-flavoured pork sandwich worth it?
The wait for the McRib is over
One unique McDonald’s menu item is made up of a boneless pork patty smothered in barbeque sauce, topped with onions and pickles, all sandwiched together in a toasted bun. It is called the McRib, but it’s not rib meat. It is boneless and mimics the shape of a rack of ribs.
For 10 years, thousands of fans have been requesting McDonald’s to put the McRib back on the menu, Global News reported. Thus, the sandwich is once again available at McDonald’s across Canada.
Before discussing the McRib, let me say that for my sister and I, McDonald’s chicken nuggets with honey mustard sauce, fries, and a medium-sized Nestea is our comfort food — a fixed order that is our food love language.
My sister works at McDonald’s and gets to eat fries, chicken nuggets, and the McRib whenever she feels like it, so I asked her about the returning menu item and she wouldn’t stop talking about the excitement customers felt for the sandwich. Every time we get together to talk about our work and studies, she tells me about the customers who are passionate about McDonald’s.
Although I’m not a huge fan of McDonald’s, I yearned for the sandwich. I had the chance to try the McRib, so I went straight to McDonald’s to place my order. I was especially excited to do so because I had points to use.
When I ordered the McRib, I requested extra onions and pickles along with tomato, leaf lettuce, along with mayo-style and barbeque sauce. I paired my McRib with medium fries and my favourite Nestea. It was quite delicious.
My customized McRib served on a toasted bun had a smoky taste with a slight sweetness. The smothered barbeque and mayo-style sauce made it a delicious bite. I finished my meal with an Oreo McFlurry which made my day.
