The warm weather is here, and that means spending more time in the sun and getting exercise. Whether you’re a Kwantlen Polytechnic University student taking classes in the summer semester or on a break, here are some free activities to check out on campus.

H.I.I.T. (Surrey)

When: May 23 and 30, 12:05 to 12:55 pm

Where: KPU Surrey campus

High intensity interval training (H.I.I.T) is taking place at the Surrey campus, which is a full-body, high-energy workout class that combines strength training and cardio, according to KPU’s website. If you’re up for a challenge, take this class to improve your health and get moving.

Yin Yoga (Richmond)

When: May 23 and 30, 4:35 to 5:25 pm

Where: KPU Richmond campus

If you need a break between classes or want to improve your flexibility, take the Yin Yoga class at the Richmond campus. A Yin Yoga class usually consists of a “series of long-held, passive floor poses that mainly work the lower part of the body — the hips, pelvis, inner thighs, [and] lower spine,” according to Ekhart Yoga. This type of yoga helps increase circulation, flexibility, reduces stress and anxiety, and improves joint mobility.

National Health and Fitness Day

When: May 28, 11:30 am to 1:30 pm

Where: KPU Tech campus, Student Lounge (R1202)

KPU’s Health Promotion and Sport and Recreation are hosting “National Health and Fitness Day” to encourage students to move around and get active. They will be hosting a variety of fun activities like pool, table tennis, football toss, giant snakes and ladders, spikeball, cornhole, and more.
