The Boundary Bay Airshow, a free annual event held in Delta featuring aviation performances by pilots, will take place on Saturday at noon at Boundary Bay Airport.
Hosted by Alpha Aviation and the City of Delta over the last 16 years, this year’s event will recognize the 100th anniversary of the Canadian Air Force.
“The Airshow has always been a tremendous success and a premier community event,” City of Delta media wrote in an email statement to The Runner. “Thousands of people attend this event.”
Doing aerobatic maneuvers with a variety of airplane models, multiple pilots will exhibit their talent and tricks at the event. Some performances will include Brad Wursetn in his MX2 aircraft, Vicky Benzing flying a newly restored P-51 Mustang, Mike Tryggvason piloting an Extra 300 aircraft, Ross Granley in his Yak-18T, along with the Northern Stars Aeroteam and an CH-148 Cyclone helicopter demonstration.
Steven Christopher and Todd Rudberg from Undaunted Airshow will also be performing at the event, which will be their first time doing so in B.C., the City of Delta wrote.
“[They] will shred the airshow box with eye-popping precision 2-shipformation, separations, and amazing rejoins.”
Performances by the Northern Stars Aeroteam, which is a three-plane, precision aerobatic formation team piloted by Canadian Air Force veterans, will also take place at the event.
“Fans will be thrilled to watch the Northern Stars Aeroteam, who will be flying the classic Pitts S2B in tight precision formations and wringing it out with exciting free-style maneuvers,” the City of Delta wrote.
In addition to aviation entertainment, there will be a family zone with activities for kids, a car show, food trucks, vendors, and other exhibits.
Also at the event will be the Erickson Aircraft Collection, which is a display of the P-40 Kittyhawk, B-25 Mitchell, and the P-51 Mustang aircrafts, which were developed and used during World War II.
There will also be other static displays, which attendees will have the chance to see up close, ranging from historical to modern aircrafts.
There will also be free parking as well as a shuttle service available at Paterson Park and the East Ladner Parking Lot, which will run every 10 to 15 minutes starting at 9:15 am. The event is also accessible by bus.
