Grab your roller skates and get ready for a trip back in time with Skate Stardust at Guildford Town Centre.

For $2, visitors of all skill levels can skate on the rink for 45 minutes, and it’s free if you bring your own skates. Skate Stardust is open daily from 5:00 to 9:00 pm until Oct. 31, and all proceeds go to the Surrey Firefighters Charitable Society. Guests also have the chance to win a $1,000 mall gift card.

Skate Stardust is a temporary revival of the original Stardust Roller Rink, which opened in 1971 and closed in 2005. Featuring a vibrant graffiti wall, neon lights, and a DJ booth, Skate Stardust is a great opportunity to have fun while thinking back on those nostalgic times.

Reviving the skate rink in the city where Stardust first got its start is great for the community. The rink brings back memories for those who attended during the 70s, 80s, 90s, and the 2000s, and now, they can bring family and friends to share a familiar experience.

This week, Skate Stardust will hold Halloween-themed skate sessions, which will feature spooky tunes and limited-edition gifts for skaters. Previous themed nights included Broadway, Swifties, drag, Bollywood, and a Stardust reunion.

When I first heard about Skate Stardust, I had no idea what it was. Later, I read how popular it was in the past and I knew I had to check it out.

I went with my friends on “Broadway Night,” and we really enjoyed our time. Because of the theme, people were dressed as Disney Princesses, which made it all the more fun. In fact, almost all of the guests dressed up according to the theme. The music was also from classic musicals like Hamilton.

What I enjoyed most from visiting Skate Stardust was how amazing it looked inside and out. The rink has that retro look with its DJ booth, older songs, disco ball, and neon walls. On the outside, there are fun, colourful benches and vibrant signage.

It’s great that Skate Stardust was revived at Guildford Town Centre as it shows how people in the community can come together for activities we all love doing. I, for one, will definitely be heading back before the rink closes.

Skate Stardust is also a great outlet to improve your skills. On Oct. 23, guests can partake in skating lessons by Rolla Skate Club from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

I recommend Skate Stardust to everyone who lives near Guildford Town Centre. It is an amazing opportunity to reminisce about old memories while making new ones.
