The last two meetings of the Kwantlen Student Association’s 2025-26 council were on March 24 and 30 — both of which struggled to meet quorum.

The same five councillors attended both meetings, including all three executives: President and Vice-President (VP) University Affairs Gurdit Singh, Associate President Anmol Bansal, and VP External Affairs Rohit Uppal. Business Representative Ishant Goyal and Women’s Representative Manmeet Kaur also attended.

Business Representative Harkamal Singh and Mature Students’ Representative Ashutosh Dhingra, who is also on the 2026-27 council, did not attend either meeting. Gurdit and Bansal are also on the 2026-27 council.

The March 30 meeting was called to order 15 minutes late. The March 24 meeting was called to order 18 minutes after it was scheduled to start at 1:00 pm, but it did not actually begin until after 1:30 pm, which is when the KSA’s auditors were slated to join the meeting.

The auditors, Tompkins Wozny LLP, presented the KSA’s financial statements in-camera with Executive Director Timothii Ragavan, Executive Secretary Prabjot Deol, Speaker of Council Amandeep Kaur Brar, and Financial Controller Rolando Navarro.

More than 30 minutes later, council returned from the in-camera meeting to adopt and approve the agenda.

Gurdit acknowledged the B.C. Ministry of Finance’s order regarding an investigation into the association’s possible misuse of funds or problematic behaviour. He added that the KSA intends to “fully cooperate.”

He said KSA services — including food bank hampers and Peer Support — will continue to be provided as usual.

“There will be no disruption or impact to services provided to the students during this investigation process,” Gurdit said. “Further updates will be shared as appropriate.”

Uppal said his report will be emailed during the meeting. The Runner did not receive a report.

At the March 30 meeting, none of the executives gave a report.

Gurdit said his report was the same one he presented at the KSA’s annual general meeting (AGM). The AGM was held on March 27, and executives presented their annual reports. At council meetings, executives typically share a report of current activities.

“Since [the March 24 meeting], we’ve been talking with the lawyers and the ongoing legal cases to resolve them,” Gurdit said. “I’m going to debrief the new council with the major things that are going on with the cases.”

In his report, Ragavan said the KSA hopes to discuss the Indigenous fee waiver resolution at an upcoming AGM or special general meeting. The resolution couldn’t be brought to a vote at this year’s AGM because a quorum of at least 60 students wasn’t met.

Ragavan added the new council will attend a mandatory orientation and receive training.

“This will be a full-day presentation in regards to all coordinator position services that we provide to students, governance, as well as media training,” he said.

Brar, Ragavan, and council spent nearly five minutes debating when the next council meeting would be held. They scheduled the meeting for April 7, but it was cancelled the morning of and rescheduled to April 10 — a meeting that was also cancelled around an hour before it was supposed to take place.
