With the seasonal change, comes all things Halloween.
The BOO! Haunted Halloween Market is coming to the Croatian Cultural Centre in Vancouver on Oct. 18 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
The all-ages Halloween market, organized by the Vancouver Market, features airbrush tattoos, face painting, caricatures, and artwork from 100 B.C. vendors.
Organizer Nikki Nevver wanted to host the Halloween market after hosting a “super popular” market for St. Patrick’s Day.
“I loved the community spirit and doing something different from my night-time focused jobs… I’ve met a lot of lovely people through organizing markets and I am a huge fan of buying things at markets,” Nevver wrote in a statement to The Runner.
This will be the first Halloween-themed market the Vancouver Market has ever held.
“It’s at a bigger venue [at the] Croatian Cultural Centre, so there will be a lot more local entrepreneurs and artists this year,” Nevver wrote. “There will be lots of awesome Halloween-themed things for sale!”
Some vendors include Simple Lotus Design, a dainty jewelry retailer based in Metro Vancouver, Boo Bat Crafts, an online art and crafts store run by artist Nathalie Davidson, and Itty Bitty Bookshop, founded by Vancouver children’s book author Jill Danis.
Attendees can also dress-up in their Halloween costumes.
Nevver, who held her first market a decade ago, adds that hosting markets like this allows attendees to meet local creatives and find goods that aren’t available elsewhere.
“It’s a lot of fun to celebrate Halloween as a community and support local artists and business people,” she wrote.
“[I hope attendees get into] the Halloween spirit, [have] a fun day out, and [find] original things you can’t find anywhere else,” Nevver wrote.
Tickets are $5 and children can enter for free. For tickets, visit bit.ly/BooHalloweenMarket/.
