KSA 2016 By-Election Results Released
Five new constituency and faculty representatives have been elected as a result of the KSA’s annual by-election held Oct. 25 and 26.
The role of aboriginal students representative will be occupied by Samantha Davis, with 70 votes in her favour and 10 against. Zahid Dossa will be the students of colour representative with 83 votes in his favour and nine against, and Jay Reedy will be the faculty of business representative with 36 votes for him and 9 against.
Kayla England, who has filled the position of mature students representative once in the past, will be doing so again this year, but only thanks to one vote. There were 49 cast for England but 48 for her competition, Thereysa Tabert. Natasha Farris was also given a run for her money in winning the title of arts faculty representative, which she did with 36 votes, as Neelham Dhanda got 26 votes and Daniel Hurt got 21 for it.
Unfortunately for the sake of fair representation at KPU, however, five positions remain empty. There are no candidates representing the Cloverdale campus’ student body nor those in KPU’s faculty of academic and career advancement, health, design, and trades and technology.
