Amid the warmer temperatures, the Willowbrook Shopping Centre is bringing free and family-friendly activities to the Langley community.

Until Aug. 29, the centre will be hosting its event series Summer in the Courtyard, featuring three days each week packed with activities.

This is the centre’s third year running the event series, Willowbrook Shopping Centre Marketing Director Nicole Lotz wrote in an email statement to The Runner.

“Willowbrook has always been at the heart of the Langley community, and we want to continue providing a space where people can gather, have fun with friends, and enjoy free interactive events,” she wrote.

“We’re proud to continue offering free, fun, and family-friendly entertainment multiple times a week throughout the summer, and it’s been a wonderful tradition for our community.”

Lotz wrote the event features activities that everyone can enjoy, including yoga sessions on Wednesdays, movie nights on Fridays, and “Monday Fundays” that include interactive activities for families, such as Willowbrook’s water feature.

“[The] yoga sessions are designed to be accessible to all skill levels, from beginners to more experienced yogis,” Lotz wrote.

The sessions will include a variety of yoga practices such as mindfulness, relaxation, and building flexibility and strength, in addition to a series of gentle movements and breathing techniques.

For the movie nights on Fridays, Lotz wrote the events highlight not only popular, new releases, but also classics that people of all ages can enjoy.

Some of the activities provided on Mondays include bingo, bubble parties, and chalk art to bring out “everyone’s creativity and sense of fun.”

While Willowbrook is well known as a popular shopping centre, Lotz said they want people to see the centre not just as a place to shop, but a place where people can relax, dine, and unwind.

“We hope visitors leave with a sense of connection — whether it’s enjoying quality time with family and friends, discovering something new, or simply unwinding in a relaxed, welcoming space.”
