Romantasy Crafts Night to bring the magic South Surrey
Indigo store at Grandview Corners to welcome readers for craft-making and a costume contest

A night of romance and fantasy will take over the Indigo in Grandview Corners on Sept. 25.
The bookstore is hosting a Romantasy Crafts Night where readers can bedazzle books, make bookmarks, and play trivia about romantasy novels. Attendees can bring or purchase a book to bedazzle during the event.
Romantasy is a genre that combines both romance and fantasy.
“Readers get to be creative and meet other fans who are passionate about the genre. It’s really about a celebration of the genre and the Romantasy community as much as it is about the books,” Tara Bevan, a customer service representative for Indigo, wrote in a statement to The Runner.
There will also be an optional costume contest with prizes.
“This night is special because it brings fans of the Romantasy genre together to celebrate their love of books through crafts … It’s really about a celebration of the genre and the Romantasy community as much as it is about the books,” Bevan wrote.
She added that the craft night is part of a series of romantasy-themed events Indigo stores are hosting.
“Events like this give us a chance to celebrate that passion together. Whether the guests make something they are proud of, meet new friends, add a few new books to their [to-be-read list], or have a really fun night, the event will have been a success,” Bevan wrote.
Bevan hopes that attendees have fun and leave feeling more connected to the books they love.
“We want to connect like-minded people in our community and offer them a chance to learn some new crafts and make friends,” Bevan wrote.
