Debate: The classic apple pie is the best pie to enjoy during the fall months

Autumn skies call for apple pies

Is Pumpkin or Apple pie better? (Kristen Frier)

The season of pumpkin spice lattes, Thanksgiving, and all those aesthetically pleasing rainy day photos is upon us. Along with every sweet drink and cozy day ahead, this also happens to be the season of pies. With the cool weather and falling leaves, there isn’t a better time than to have a pie that remains superior to all others during this season, and of course, this is the apple pie.

There is a reason that apple pies are more popular than any other pie. With apple season thriving during September and October, people can visit the orchard and then whip these fresh beauties into a perfect warm pie that oozes with those beautiful flavours. Gather around the table with family and watch the leaves change colour as you indulge yourselves.

Pumpkin is good and all, but nothing beats the aroma of those crisp apples mixed with some mouth-watering spices. Patiently waiting for the baking to finish is something that always fills the house with nostalgia and joy.

Whether baking these goodies yourself or buying them at the store, the fall time gives many excuses to divulge in some delicious desserts.

Pumpkin, apple, pecan, and even harvest pies remain the top choices feasted on during the season which makes it unsurprising that people debate which one is the best.

I’ve only ever seen pumpkin pie done one way, the same way over and over, but the variety  which apple pie can be made with using crumbles, tart, and turnovers lets people use this classic treat in whatever way puts them in the fall spirit.

Top it with vanilla ice cream or by itself, the apple pie is perfect for any preference by switching up the traditional boring pumpkin pie Thanksgiving dessert.

Apple pie is something you cannot go wrong with, a lot of people love the different textures of the chunky apples paired with the buttery and flaky crust. Not only is it considered the ultimate dessert, but it contains fall spices making it a great way to end your Thanksgiving dinner in a different way.

Why go with pumpkin or pecan when apple remains tried and true? Plus, if you make the pie yourself, it is a fun activity for the family by picking the apples yourself. The process is much easier to pick and make the pie with your own apples than with pumpkin because it doesn’t take as long, and makes less of a mess.

Why would you want to eat a pie that starts as a soup and turns into a Jello-O-like substance as the final product?

Everyone is open to their own opinions. I mean, both pumpkin and apple are great in their choices when thinking about adding your fall food bucket list. But honestly, the versatility of an apple pie mixed with the rich and decadent flavours, is what tops it for me. Add a crumble, crisp, or swirl to the top. It just adds to the layers of flavours and the overall fall experience.
