Debate: Pumpkin pie best represents the return of fall and harvest season
There’s nothing better than the aroma of pumpkin goodies in autumn
Move over Summertime Sally. Pumpkin Patty has returned for another scrumptious pumpkin pie season.
All pumpkin lovers rejoice during this time of year because there are many goodies available at grocery stores, bakeshops, and cafes. From pumpkin pie, to pumpkin pie ice cream, and even pumpkin spice lattes, it’s every basic white girl’s dream come true. Let’s not forget about the pumpkin spice candles.
There just can’t be an official start to fall without a slice of pumpkin pie. No offence to apple pie lovers, but pumpkin is superior to other pies for the autumn season.
There’s honestly nothing better than the smell of pumpkin pie baking in your oven. Well, there is. It’s when you get to eat the pie once it’s done.
I’m not sure how many people prefer eating their pumpkin pie with ice cream, but I enjoy mine with whipped cream on top. This may sound weird, but I try to even out the ratio of whipped cream and pie together. I want equal whip in every bite so that I can savour the two flavours. I take my dessert very seriously, especially when it comes to Save On Foods’ pumpkin pie.
Every grocery store makes pumpkin pies for fall, but some of them aren’t worth it, and they diminish the pumpkin pie’s famous reputation, which has been a staple choice since the 18th century.
By the 18th century, pumpkin pie had earned a place at the table at Thanksgiving. It became so popular that in 1705, “the Connecticut town of Colchester famously postponed its Thanksgiving for a week because there wasn’t enough molasses available to make pumpkin pie.” They know their priorities, and I applaud them for that
Whether you prefer a slice of pumpkin pie or Dairy Queen’s pumpkin pie Blizzard, you should definitely try a pumpkin treat.
If I can’t get my hands on a pie, the Blizzard will suffice, as it’s literally a pumpkin pie in a cup. And it’s portable if you’re on the go.
My mom always says that “fall is in the air” towards the end of August. You can just feel the crisp air breeze in the morning or at night. That’s probably why Starbucks brings back their pumpkin spice latte before September — they know fall is already here. That, or they know pumpkin spice fans would be outraged if they didn’t bring it back as soon as possible. Either way, there’s no autumn season without a pumpkin spice latte, or really anything pumpkin-related.

Eat whatever sparks your joy. A slice of pumpkin pie and whipped cream makes me a very happy girl. However, if I can pair it with the matching latte and a pumpkin pecan waffle candle, the basic white girl in me will scream.
