Have you ever sent a text message you regretted the moment you hit send? Or have you ever crafted a text with several spelling errors? The agony of long-lasting panic and embarrassment is one everyone has experienced at some point in their life.

And let’s just say it is one experience in life I don’t recommend.

With the latest iOS 16 update from Apple, iPhone users can now use an “undo send” or “edit” button on their iMessages to other iPhone users. The steps are pretty simple to use, but each one ensures that your texting embarrassment is no more. The only catch is you only have 15 minutes to edit a message and two minutes to delete a message.

A lot of iPhone users are excited for this change, and it has been a long time coming. It’s 2022 and only now the undo and edit buttons on text are being introduced to bigger companies like Apple. Editing and deleting sent messages should be a default feature on every texting app.

Texting is a massive part of people’s lives. People text more than they call, and it is notorious for being the reason why many misinterpretations in conversations happen amongst people. Whether that be confrontations or one way jokes.

While some apps contain edit or delete buttons for their text messages, this isn’t across a wide range of platforms.

The anxiety of accidentally sending a drunk text to your ex is gone. No longer do you have to suffer in long lived regret of an embarrassing confession. Instead, you have the ease of knowing you can delete it. Well, within the next 15 minutes at least, but your loyal friend can help you out there.

It will also make people more aware of what they are typing. From the mistakes and spelling to content that you don’t want others to see, in this society we are too numb to what goes on our phones. Our fingers move without thinking about the words we type and it can screw us over. Partly why some scandals come out on Twitter — it acts like a public texting platform.

Having this feature would allow for everyone to be more on their toes. After a text is sent, the message will no longer haunt our minds and torture us with “I should have said….”

Apple is moving forward with this feature, but it would be good in general for this to be expanded to other devices and apps.
