While it’s convenient and most certainly better for your wallet to stick with preparing food at home, eating out every once in a while can provide fun experiences. To get into it, here are five places I recommend checking out.

Kinton Ramen

A food spot that’s become one of my favourite places to go to over the past year is Kinton Ramen, which has some delicious food.

When dining in, there’s options to sit at either a table or on the counter. While they do have the option to do takeout, I recommend dining in if you can.

As for the food, there’s plenty of options to pick from such as chicken karaage and donburi. I’ve tried both items myself and they are quite tasty. However, as tasty as those options are, one simply doesn’t go to a ramen place and not order a bowl of ramen noodles.

On their usual menu, they have four different broths with four protein options to choose from, including chicken miso ramen and pork shoyu ramen — my go-to orders.

For those interested in checking out the restaurant, there are a few locations in the Lower Mainland, including the King George Hub in Surrey and three spots in Vancouver.

Sushi King George

One of the more niche sushi locations in Surrey is Sushi King George, which has been among my go-to sushi places.

More of a “hole in the wall” type restaurant, Sushi King George is one place I can vouch for having tasty food. While there aren’t many food options there to make it unique from other sushi places, their food quality is among the best.

Obviously, they offer more than just sushi, so if I had to recommend something else to order, the chicken katsu is my pick. Of course, there are plenty of sushi rolls to choose from, but you can never go wrong with a California roll.

ZUBU Ramen

Although I’ve listed a ramen place already, I just couldn’t leave ZUBU Ramen off this list.

Admittedly, it might be the most expensive food place mentioned here, but I argue the price is worth it. The ramen is tasty, but something about their chicken karaage and dessert makes it stand out when compared to Kinton Ramen.

There’s a location nearby Metropolis at Metrotown in Burnaby for those wanting to find a spot.

Old Spaghetti Factory

Probably the most familiar place I’ll talk about here, the Old Spaghetti Factory is most famous for, guess what, its spaghetti.

However, to the surprise of hopefully no one, the Old Spaghetti Factory has plenty of options to choose from. Ranging from tasty side options like the garlic cheese toast and desserts such as tiramisu, it makes for a solid hangout place in the afternoon or evening.

For those wanting to check out the Old Spaghetti Factory, there’s locations in Langley Township, New Westminster, and downtown Vancouver.

Juke Fried Chicken

One of the newer places I’ve come to like is going to Juke Fried Chicken, a tasty fried chicken place I wish I knew about sooner.

Whether it’s chicken waffles, sandwiches, or just chicken pieces, there’s plenty of ways to eat fried chicken there. Located in Vancouver’s Chinatown, Juke Fried Chicken is a great place to try some fried chicken beyond more well-known places like KFC.
