Cafe spots to check out in Metro Vancouver
From iced chai lattes to croissants, there's a cafe to appetize everyone

There’s no better place than a cafe to hang out, lock in for a project, or get away from all the chaos university life has to offer.
With so many cafes to choose from in Metro Vancouver and free time on my hands, here are a few spots I personally recommend checking out.
This cafe located near the King George Hub in Surrey is a solid place to hang out. With plenty of food options to choose from, ranging from snacks such as croissants to beverages like coffee and tea, Combine provides a nice atmosphere.
The cafe is open from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm from Sundays through Thursdays at 7:00 am to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Some items are a bit pricy, but after my fair share of going to Starbucks, I’ve just accepted finding cost-efficient spots are the exception and not the norm. I do recommend checking Combine out at least once, though, and getting one of the lunch options it has available such as the mac and cheese.
While I can’t say the Bubble Waffle Cafe is what an average person has in mind when they think of a cafe, it’s a place I like coming back to whenever I have the chance.
Found in locations such as the Lougheed Shopping Centre, this cafe sells, as you can hopefully tell by the name, bubble waffles. But you can’t just have bubble waffles by themselves — this spot also has tasty drinks such as milk tea.
There are also plenty of meals available such as noodle bowls and rice plates with some meat and vegetables. With all of these options available, there’s surely something for most people to try out at this cafe.
My personal favourite order is the salty chicken nuggets with rice and a bubble waffle with iced milk tea on the side.
With eight different locations in Vancouver, Breka is a cafe I recently started going to and enjoying.
The cafe has an amazing vibe and plenty of food options to choose from, whether it’s sandwiches, pastries, or drinks.
Breka even has some “grab-and-go” options for those who don’t want to stay in the cafe for an extended period of time. Those who enjoy the Breka experience should know that they can take a variety of items, ranging from trail mix to coffee beans, home with them.
The cafe is also open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, which is a nice appeal for anyone who likes going on a late-night run to a cafe.
If anyone needs any more recommendations on what to get, prices aside, the steak and cheese panini on pretzel sourdough bread is tasty.
For snacks, I recommend the bacon macaroni and cheese. For drinks, the iced chai latte and real fruit smoothies are great and help get me started on my work, which may include writing this story.
