News brief: Metro Vancouver events to enjoy the final moments of summer

Summer may be ending, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing left to do in Metro Vancouver. From public disco parties to Pride festivals, there’s lots to do.
RibFest Langley
Time: Aug. 14 to 16
Location: McLeod Athletic Park, Langley
One of the Lower Mainland’s premier community events is returning this year to Langley. RibFest Langley 2026 celebrates its annual tradition with a large barbecue event open to everyone.
The free barbecue fest will begin at 11:00 am on both August 14 and 15, until 9:00 pm. They finish off with a bang on August 16 from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm.
The event features six ribbers serving up mouthwatering smoked ribs, pulled pork, briskets, barbecue chicken, smoked sausage, and more. Featured barbecue restaurants are Boss Hogs BBQ, Gator BBQ, Prairie Smoke & Spice, Guerilla Q, Rusty’s BBQ, and GrillBilly Willy’s.
More than just ribs, eventgoers can also expect a variety of food stalls, alcoholic beverages, and a 50/50 mega draw allowing a chance to win up to $250,000.

Cloverdale Sunshine Craft Market
Time: Aug. 15, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
Location: Shannon Hall, Surrey

New West Pride Street Fest
Time: Aug. 15, 3:00 to 11:00 pm
Location: Columbia Street, New Westminster
From books to music and even disco, New Westminster has you covered.
From 3:00 to 4:00 pm, the free festival will have a special Pride-themed librarian-led storytime at Anvil Centre, followed by balloons, music, and dancing. Live jazz music from the Uptown Swing Collective will be at the Rainbow Lounge providing free dance lessons for attendees.
The finale of New West Pride’s celebration will host a Pride Disco Dance Party at the Terminal Pub from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm. The kitchen closes at 10:00 pm.

West Coast Gardens Summer Festival
Time: Aug. 22 and 23, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
Location: West Coast Gardens, Surrey
The West Coast Gardens is throwing a two-day summer party, offering fun and relaxation to every attendee — both humans and their animal companions. The festival features food, local artisans, end-of-season sales, giveaways.

Afro Caribbean Summerfest

Location: Surrey Civic Plaza, Surrey
New Vision Music Society brings together the Afro Caribbean Cultural Expressions Summerfest of Surrey, or A.C.C.E.S.S., for a summerfest.
The free two-day festival celebrates Afro-Caribbean culture through music, dance, and food. Experience Afro, Reggae, and Soca music while discovering local talent and celebrating cultural diversity.

Public Disco Block Party
Time: Aug. 29, 2:00 to 10:00 pm
Location: Vancouver Art Gallery North Plaza, Vancouver
Closing out their 10th summer season, Public Disco is back with its block party.
Curated by DJ Dairy Free, the free party showcases underground electronic music culture. An expanded record market featuring local shops, labels, and collectors, as well as a vintage market and food vendors will be available for attendees to check out.
Special guests include Pacific Coliseum, AWood, Anika, Serena Susnjar, and Ian Prentice.
