Unplug their mics: 3 podcasts that deserve the mute button

From controversial hosts to questionable content, these podcasts remind us why microphones should be more expensive

If there’s anything the average person likes to do every once in a while, it’s having an opinion and broadcasting it to the world. In the past decade or so, people seem to have taken this too seriously, resulting in rapid growth of the podcast market.

Here are some podcasts I think should be muted.

Impaulsive with Logan Paul

To those around on social media in early 2018, there was an online content creator on the rise — cough, cough, Logan Paul. This person went to Japan and among other reckless actions, filmed an apparent suicide victim. The video received widespread attention online.

There was also speculation about Paul being banned from entering the country again, but it was disproven.

You’d think he would’ve learned from this experience and gotten better as a person — or at least disappear from the public eye after a few years of fame.

Unfortunately, it got worse. It’s genuinely a miracle that either of the two Paul brothers is still relevant considering I’ve seen other internet celebrities get cancelled for less. A few years ago, Logan also notoriously scammed people with his own cryptocurrency, among other awful acts.

I’d rather not discuss what company he invites to his podcast, but if you know the Paul brothers well enough, you can probably guess.

Unfortunately, if you’re hoping he leaves the space soon, he also does business with the WWE, both in the ring and outside through his beverage brand, Prime. So he’s likely sticking around the social media landscape for the next couple of years at least … for better or worse.

If I have to say anything nice about him, hopefully having a wife and child will somewhat straighten him out.

The Joe Rogan Experience

If anything, Joe Rogan does really provide an experience for listeners with this podcast. If I’m being honest, this is probably as much praise as I can give it.

Inviting controversial guests throughout the years, including President Donald Trump, Vice-President J.D. “Couch Violator” Vance, the late wrestler Hulk Hogan, Andrew Tate, and Kanye West.

In fairness, there have been some mildly interesting guests on the show, such as North Korea defector Yeonmi Park and Snoop Dogg, one of the most well-known names in hip-hop history.

However, most guests on the show tend to be from certain groups leaning in concerning directions.

Trash Taste

While Trash Taste is not as awful as the pods mentioned above, considering everything, the bar might as well be at the bottom of an abyss.

Trash Taste is an anime, manga, and otaku podcast by YouTubers Joey from The Anime Man, Garnt from Gigguk, and Connor from Cdawgva.

Thankfully, though, there’s been no controversial guests or harmful opinions being spread on this podcast — at least as far as I know. Hopefully, it can stay that way considering this is probably the only good point I can come up with.

Mainly, they just have awful takes about anime and Japan, which isn’t the worst in the grand scheme of things. As someone who constantly argues with people about storytelling and the fall of media literacy, I still want to bring this podcast up because at least their show name is accurate to what comes out of their mouths.
