News brief: Events to check out in July at KPU

The summer semester is in full swing — and so are events across Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s campuses.
While not every student is taking classes during the summer, there is still lots to do on and around campus. Here are some events to check out in July.

Table Tennis Drop-in
Time: July 2 and 22, 11:00 am to 1:00 pm
Location: KPU Surrey, Spruce Atrium
Show off your table tennis moves at Sports and Recreation’s latest drop-in class. Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, the drop-in sessions are all about good vibes and movement.
Visitors must have a valid KPU ID card to take part, and participants under 19-years-old may require a waiver form. For more information, contact sportrec@kpu.ca.
ENTA’s Road to Show Milestone 2
Time: July 8 and 9, 7:00 to 10:00 pm
Location: Online and KPU Richmond, ENTA Lobby (2nd floor)
KPU’s 3D animation students take centre stage. Students will reveal the next part of their final-term projects.
The event is open to all: current and future students, faculty, staff, and anyone wanting to learn more about 3D animation.
Peer Wellness’ Just Dance Social
Time: July 14, 11:30 am to 1:30 pm
Location: KPU Surrey, Peer Resource Space (Maple 160)
Dance and connect at KPU Peer Wellness’ Just Dance Social. The social is a drop-in event and will feature fan-favourite songs from Just Dance games.
The student-led Peer Wellness team aims to improve and promote social connection, health, and wellness among students.

KPU International’s Victoria Day Trip
Time: July 27, 7:45 am to 8:30 pm
Location: Departure and return to KPU Surrey
Tickets: $21.91, available online on June 29 at 3:00 pm
KPU International is hosting a day trip to B.C.’s capital. The event is open to current international and domestic students, aged 19 and older.
Students will have more than four hours to explore Victoria. From the city’s waterfront and downtown to local shops and attractions. Tickets include free admission to the Royal BC Museum if students go with a staff member.
The event includes transportation to and from KPU’s Surrey campus. Students must have a valid KPU ID card to get on the bus.

Beer Sales
Time: Fridays, 1:00 to 6:00 pm
Location: KPU Langley, Brew Lab (Bldg 1400)
Every Friday, the KPU community and the public can purchase student-brewed craft beer directly from the source.
Beer is typically available in growler fills, with some six-packs of cans or bottles. Growler fills range from $12 to $13 for 64 ounces and $7 to $8 for 32 ounces. Growler jugs run $11 for 64 ounces, and 32 ounces cost $9.
Styles change weekly. Currently, the lab has a Session Ale with notes of honey, melon and tropical fruits, an award-winning Hefeweizen called 50/50 Hefe, and Brown Ale. In cans, the lab has a dark lager, Schwarzbier.

Kwantlen Farmers Market
Time: Tuesdays, 11:00 am to 4:00 pm
Location: Richmond’s Brighouse library branch (7700 Minoru Gate)
Every Tuesday until Dec. 22, the public can visit the Kwantlen Farmers Market.
Visitors can purchase fresh vegetables, fruits, and flowers straight from the KPU Farm. The farm’s production uses diversified, sustainable, regenerative, and organic practices, and supports sustainable agriculture students’ learning.
KPU students also receive a discount at the KPU Farm Stand.
Other vendors include Vancouver-based bakery Ça Croustille, Mike’s Kettle Corn with flavours like sweet caramel churro, and Richmond’s own Angkor Harvest, a family-owned Cambodian food business.
