It was another disappointing offensive showing for the Kwantlen Eagles’ women’s basketball team in Victoria on Saturday afternoon. After just 44 points on Friday night, the women mustered just 32 as they fell to the VIU Mariners 57-32.
Mariners forward Brittany Knievel led the way for the Mariners with a game-high 13 points.
The Eagles’ Mel Poce had 11 points to lead the team in scoring during the game as she contributed three times from beyond the arc. Unfortunately, she was the only Kwantlen player who contributed with any consistency as no other Eagle hit double digits in the game.
Meanwhile the men didn’t fare any better as they fell 91-73.
Once again the Mariners offence was just too much too handle. Mike Wohlers, Jacob Thom and Andrew Kaban all scored more than 20 points, led by Wohlers’ 24.
It was turnovers that killed the Kwantlen offence. The team had another 30 turnovers that led to 29 Mariners points.
The lone bright spot for the men’s team was Dylan Kular who went 4-for-7 from the three point range and racked up 18 points in the game. Harpreet Rhandawa also had a strong game for Kwantlen with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
With the losses the Eagles return home from their weekend set winless in Victoria
