We're hiring associate editors (again)

The Runner is looking for new talent!

We are currently seeking applications to fill vacancies for our associate editorial positions for the fall semester and beyond. These positions are not paid hourly, but do receive monthly stipends in recognition of their work.

Two points before we continue!

1. You DON’T need to be part of our staff to write/ illustrate/ take photos for The Runner. You can do that throughout the publishing year, and we will still pay you for it. Just come to our story meetings and talk to us to get involved.

2. Even if you don’t have enough experience, there may be positions that only require a willingness to learn.

***All stipends and work responsibilities are cut to 60% during the summer months***

Associate News Editor (3 positions) $200/month: Covers campus politics, student clubs and organizations, campus events, and other stories as assigned. Requires experience writing and an understanding of student politics and local current events (or a willingness to learn). Expected to participate in weekly story meetings and to write a minimum of one news article per week.

Associate Culture Editor (3 positions) $100/month: Covers campus and local arts and entertainment, including previews and reviews, profiles, and other stories as assigned. Requires experience writing, and an understanding/appreciation of local arts and culture. Expected to participate in weekly story meetings and to write a minimum of one culture article per week.

Associate Opinion Editor (1 position) $150/month: Responsible for developing insightful and balanced opinions articles, specifically covering student-related issues. Expected to participate in weekly story meetings and to write a minimum of two opinion pieces per week.

Associate Features Editor (1 position) $150/month: Responsible for developing topical and relevant feature articles on a wide variety of topics, alternating between news and culture. Requires writing and editing experience. Expected to participate in weekly story meetings and to write a minimum of two features per month.

Associate Sports Editor (1 position) $75/month: Covers the campus sports and lifestyle beat. Expected to participate in weekly story meetings and to write a minimum of two sports/lifestyle pieces per month.

Associate Photo Editor (1 position) $100/month: Helps coordinate photo coverage for campus news and culture stories. Expected to participate in weekly story meetings and to complete a minimum of two photo assignments per week.

Associate Copy Editor (1 position) $50/month: Assists with proofreading and fact checking for print editions of The Runner. Helps to correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, style, etc. before final layout. Expected to be present during Runner production day.

Associate Art Director (1 position) $50/month: Helps coordinate story art for campus news and culture stories. Expected to participate in weekly story meetings and complete a minimum of one illustration per week.
