The Amazing Brentood mall in Burnaby is going super on providing an in-depth look into the superheroes seen in the comics and on the big screen.

Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. (Scientific Training and Tactical Intelligence Operative Network), opened in the mall on March 1 and transforms the Marvel universe into an immersive experience for attendees, providing training to become part of the scientific combat support network for the Avengers. The exhibit is organized by Paquin Entertainment, alongside Cityneon Holdings, and is open seven days a week with multiple showings throughout the day.

Mark Fraser-Davidson, the director of global exhibit operations for Paquin Entertainment, says they wanted to host the exhibit in a more obscure area compared to more larger and popular cities in Canada such as Vancouver and Toronto.

“[This] allows [the exhibit] to be open to a bigger demographic, because people from the city are more likely to travel a little bit,” he says.

Established in 2014, Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. has traveled around the world and visited countries such as India, China, and the U.K. This is the second time the exhibit has hit Canada, the first being in Toronto.

The exhibit contains many original artifacts from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, providing attendees the chance to see outfits and costumes worn in those mediums. There are also props and set pieces on display, all of which would normally be hidden away by Marvel, Fraser-Davidson says.

“People want that escapism, they want to be able to go somewhere and not think about everyday, but be transported into a different experience,” he says.

Fraser-Davidson says the best part about Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N is it touches attendees by featuring artifacts they’ve only ever seen in the movies.

“I get to see the looks on the faces of our guests when they first go through that briefing room and … when they see such recognizable pieces.”

Fraser-Davidson says not everyone has to be invested in Marvel to attend the exhibit, and that this may be the last time the exhibit comes to Canada due to its busy touring schedule.

“I think it is super important to be able to get to it,” he says. “It’s one of those once in a lifetime opportunities.”

People can visit Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. at the Amazing Brentwood until May, however

Fraser-Davidson says the event could stick around the Lower Mainland just a bit longer.

“If it continues to be as popular as we’re finding it, and if we continue to have fun while we’re in Burnaby, there’s a possibility that it could extend [past May],” says Fraser-Davidson.
