Coffee done right: My favourite drinks of all time
From Starbucks to Tim Hortons and Breka, each place has added its own twist to popular beverages

Bubble tea, matcha, smoothies, and other beverages have been integrated into modern society, so it’s safe to say there’s few that people regularly get more often than coffee.
Coffee helps keep many awake — assuming it’s not decaffeinated. It gives people a kick to start their systems, be it from the caffeine or the taste of coffee itself. Coffee’s even debated to be a symbol of pop culture throughout the past few decades.
For better or worse, coffee can be considered an integral part of our lives, whether through simply consuming a cup of coffee or something more.
After looking through what counted as a coffee-related drink, these are what I consider to be the best options.
Coffee Frappuccino from Starbucks
I’ve tried a few other drinks from Starbucks, but this is the only drink I can remember ordering regularly. It’s for good reason if this is what sticks out to me thinking about coffee drinks.
With a diverse range of flavours to choose from, there’s surely something most people can find to their taste. From pumpkin spice to peppermint mocha, there’s plenty of options!
After trying out a few of the flavours, I would say the Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino is my favourite considering it’s what I order the most at Starbucks. I like the cookies and cream flavour of the drink since it’s one of my favourite dessert flavours of all time. The cookie bits give the drink some crunch, and it’s something I enjoy the most.
The caffeine and sugar in the Frappuccino helps me get through chaotic days at work. Admittedly, it’s also gotten me through some long nights cramming for a test or catching up on assignments from classes. The frappé is also one of the most delicious drinks I’ve had, which keeps me coming back to order more.
An honourable mention for this type of coffee beverage is the Caramel Ribbon Crunch Frappuccino, which I drink when I want a small break from my usual order. It gives a different kind of sweet taste to the Frappuccino, and, like the Mocha Cookie Crumble, there’s some crunch included in the drink.
Pumpkin-flavoured coffee drinks
Thanks to Starbucks, pumpkin-flavoured drinks got popular earlier this century because of their taste and the company’s marketing. The concept of a pumpkin-flavoured coffee has even reached other places like Breka Bakery & Café and Tim Hortons. I don’t know how else to describe the taste other than it takes you right back to the fall season.
While there’s plenty of options to try out when it comes to pumpkin spice coffee drinks, Starbucks is never a bad option as the honorary pumpkin spice coffee house. I also recommend the pumpkin pie drinks from Breka and the Pumpkin Spice Iced Capp from Tim Hortons.
Iced Capps from Tim Hortons
Speaking of Tim Hortons and Iced Capps, if you’ve known me long enough, this drink was inevitably going to come up at some point.
If you’ve been in Canada long enough, Iced Capps are a staple for plenty of people in the country, including yours truly. Being a semi-frozen coffee drink delivers such a kick — it gets people through their day. In extreme cases, two large Iced Capps even help carry a certain someone through a video game competition on no sleep.
I’ve talked about it so many times, but it’s a good old reliable option to have in the north, so I had to put it on the list.
