Kwantlen’s women’s basketball team is on a run of eight games without a win after the 73-51 home loss on Saturday, Feb. 5 to the Quest University Kermodes.
The Eagles couldn’t stop the Kermodes offense after every dressed player on the Quest roster scored at least one point. Four of 11 players on the Kwantlen roster failed to score, including Samantha McPhail, who was on the floor for over 13 minutes.
The key difference between the teams was how they shot.
The Kermodes put away 42 per cent of their field goals and went 67 per cent from the line, compared to the Eagles 28 per cent from the field and 37 per cent on free throws.
Quest got off to a great start against the Eagles. They were up by 13 at one point in the first quarter, and only let the home team score eight points in the opening frame.
The major problem for the Kwantlen defence was trying to maintain Quest’s point guard Delainee Behrns, who picked up 20 points and eight rebounds.
The Eagles went into the second match of the home double-header after losing the opener 80-57.
Next up for the women is an away double-header against the VIU Mariners in Nanaimo on Feb. 11 and 12.
